Fuji Electric Retail Systems Co., Ltd., is a member of the Fuji Electric
Group. The Company is responsible for sales of vending machines
and food displays for supermarkets and convenience stores manufactured
by Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. The Fuji Electric Group accounts
for an approximately 40% share of the food and drink vending
machines shipped by Japanese manufacturers. Consequently, Fuji
Electric is the top manufacturer of vending machines in Japan
while Fuji Electric Retail Systems is the top seller.
 Fuji
Electric Retail Systems was established in 1965. The Company diversified
its operations early on after beginning sales of vending machines
in 1969, starting to market food displays in 1971 and coin mechanisms
and bill validators in 1974. It has continued to develop all
of those businesses. In its core business of vending machines,
despite making a late entrance to the market, the Company became
the top market share holder in 1973 after only 4 years of operations.
It has held that position since.
